What is Trulicity?

Trulicity is a Type 2 diabetes medication. The active ingredient in Trulicity is called dulaglutide. What are the side effects of Trulicity?

Before taking Trulicity, tell your doctor about any medical conditions, especially if you have a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome Type 2. This medication has caused thyroid cancer in rats, but its effect on the human thyroid is unknown. Consult a health care provider if you notice any unusual lumps in your neck, if you have trouble swallowing or breathing, or if you have persistent hoarseness.

What drugs interact with Trulicity?

Before you take Trulicity, tell your doctor about all of the medications you take, including prescription medications, OTC drugs, vitamins, and supplements, so your doctor can check for drug interactions.

Because Trulicity affects gastric emptying, it can affect how oral medicines are absorbed. This may have more of an effect on drugs with a narrow therapeutic index, like the blood thinner Coumadin (warfarin). Store the Trulicity pen in the original carton in the refrigerator, away from direct heat and light. Do not freeze. If the pen has been frozen, discard the pen and call your pharmacist. Which drugs are similar to Trulicity?

Trulicity (dulaglutide), Bydureon (exenatide), Victoza (liraglutide), Januvia (sitagliptin), Glucophage (metformin), or others, are diabetes medications that your doctor may consider prescribing you. Rybelsus (semaglutide) is an oral diabetes medication that is similar to Trulicity but is available in oral form rather than injection.
